Program Description:
  Las Vegas
The Las Vegas, U.S. Internship Program is designed for students with a background in Business, Management, Marketing, Communications, or Travel and Tourism.  Applicants should plan on a 12 month internship.

Placements are available on a rolling basis. You may apply at any time.

The company also requires that the applicants be fluent in either: 
Italian, German, Russian, French, Portuguese or Spanish.  Selected interns will undertake a full-time PAID (approx. $2,000 per month) placement working Monday through Friday.

Internship Description           

JOB SUMMARY: There are many phases of training that the intern will udertake.  Not all phases will be pertinent to all applicants.  We will determine which phases pertain to you during the interview.  This is the general J-1 Training/Internship Placement Plan:
 


ORIENTATION PHASE

Brief Description:
In this phase the Intern will be introduced to the company’s day-to-day operations in order to gain an understanding of all the companies systems and procedures. During this phase the Intern will become familiar with the businesses products and services while learning its vernacular.

Specific Tasks and Activities to be Completed for this Program or for this Phase:
- Orientation to introduce the Intern to the company, staff and general procedures.
- Study company manuals, pricing, structure, and policies.
- Assist with managing data and records.
- Projects to familiarize the Intern with the company's computer systems and networks.
- Review the company's website.
- Projects in organization and management of the office

Specific Goals and Objectives for this Program or for this Phase:
To introduce the intern to the day to day operations of the company.  Provide them with an understanding of the company's business organization and market targets as well as teach them how to use the company computer software and technologies.
Completion of this phase will enable to move on to more on the job training...and real-life interaction with clients.

Knowledge, Skills, or Techniques to be Imparted During this Program or During this Phase:
- Introduction to the company's day-to-day administrative operations.
- Understanding of the company's database and computer systems and networks.
- Develop familiarity to the company's products and services.
- Learning the common business lingo and language.


Methods of Performance Evaluation and Methods or Supervision for this Program or for this Phase:
The training advisor will provide day to day supervision and feedback for the trainee. It is the responsibility of the advisor to ensure the trainee's questions and concerns are addressed. Reviews will be held at the end of each phase to ensure the trainee is prepared to continue in the program. A final evaluation at the end of the final phase will measure the trainee's overall development and learning.

 


CUSTOMER SERVICE TRAINING PHASE

Brief Description:
In this phase the Intern will learn about the company’s customer service procedures, philosophies, and strategies. During this time the Intern will learn to evaluate the customer’s service satisfaction and understand the company’s customer correspondence methods. Throughout this phase the Intern will develop communication, negotiation, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.

Specific Tasks and Activities to be Completed for this Program or for this Phase:
- Assisting the department's staff with client inquiries, concerns and defusing negative situations.
- Address all client correspondence and communication including emails, letters and phone calls.
- Managing and updating the client database.
- Conduct client satisfaction surveys.
- Review, evaluate and make conclusions on the customer service satisfaction index.

Specific Goals and Objectives for this Program or for this Phase:
To give the intern real-life on the job training by interacting with clients It is important the Intern learns through active participation and exposure to real-life and real time customer situations.   All on the job training will be carefully demonstrated and monitored by a supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills, or Techniques to be Imparted During this Program or During this Phase:
- Learn the company's customer service philosophy, procedures, etiquette, and strategies.
- Learn to evaluate the customer service satisfaction index.
- Understanding methods for customer correspondence.
- Develop his communication, negotiation, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.

Methods of Performance Evaluation and Methods or Supervision for this Program or for this Phase:

BUSINESS OPERATIONS PHASE

Brief Description:
In this phase the Intern will learn the inventory procedures of the company. Through this phase, the Intern will learn about cost control, overheard, and effective management of resources. The Intern will also learn about equipment maintenance, interoffice communication and basic accounting.

Specific Tasks and Activities to be Completed for this Program or for this Phase:
- Assist with inventory: assessing items, ordering, shipping, receiving and cataloguing.
- Review and Evaluate the company's overhead, budgets, and cost control reports.
- Assist with communication within the company: distributing memos, emails, and coordinating meetings.
- Assist with maintaining proper and optimal use of equipment.
- Activities in accounting: inputting information, processing checks, communicating with vendors, collections, reviewing and processing statements.

Specific Goals and Objectives for this Program or for this Phase:
Intern will learn the basics of the operations and financial sides of the business.    This phase will give the intern a broader/higher overview of the business of a US company and it's business practices and policies.

Knowledge, Skills, or Techniques to be Imparted During this Program or During this Phase:
- Training in the inventory management procedures of the company.
- Knowledge of cost control, overhead, and effective management of resources.
- Training in interoffice communication.
- Understanding of equipment maintenance procedures.
- Basic accounting training: accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledgers and statement reporting.

Methods of Performance Evaluation and Methods or Supervision for this Program or for this Phase:
The supervisor will be present at all times during this phase to monitor the Intern's progress.  At the end of the phase, the supervisor will review the Intern's understanding and skill level to ensure s/he is prepared for the next phase.

 


MARKETING AND SALES PHASE

Brief Description:
During this phase the Intern will learn the company’s marketing and sales strategies and procedures. The Intern will develop skills in sales and will become familiar with client demographics so that they can be incorporated into the marketing strategy. Throughout this phase the Intern will learn the sales process from start to finish.

Specific Tasks and Activities to be Completed for this Program or for this Phase:
- Attend all marketing and sales team meetings.
- Assist with marketing events, materials, and planning.
- Accompany staff on sales meetings: learn to make first-contact, speak to potential clients and close the deal.
- Make presentations to clients (under close supervision).
- Develop the client base: communication and correspondence.
- Assist with advertising: contacting vendors, communicating with ad agencies and developing ideas for advertising the company's products and services.

Specific Goals and Objectives for this Program or for this Phase:
For Intern to gain a thorough understanding of THE COMPANY's products and market strategies and have the opportunity to be involved in marketing and sales functions of the company. All on the job training will be carefully demonstrated and monitored by a supervisor. 

Knowledge, Skills, or Techniques to be Imparted During this Program or During this Phase:
- Learn the company's marketing and sales initiatives, strategies, and procedures.
- Develop skills in sales: first contact, follow-up, closing, and up-selling.
- Be familiarized with the client demographics and how to incorporate the information in developing a marketing strategy.
- Train in advertising: brand-name, name recognition, dealing with vendors, interacting with advertising agencies.
- Learn the sales process from start to finish: cold-call, presentation, negotiation.

The supervisor will be present at all times during this phase to monitor the Intern's progress.  At the end of the phase, the supervisor will review the Intern's understanding and skill level to ensure s/he is prepared for the next phase.

 


PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE AND MARKETING PHASE

Brief Description:
Introduction to THE COMPANY's products and marketing strategies
Specific Tasks and Activities to be Completed for this Program or for this Phase:
-The intern will give professional descriptions of our products to the members; they will assist with doing internal inquiries on each product
-Review company brochures and product packages
-Assist THE COMPANY technical department with research on THE COMPANY products and those of competing firms in order to provide an improved service for existing clients and to increase interest for new clients.  The intern will assist the manager with researching competitor trends.
-Assist with the development of company products/services in accordance with specific customer needs.
-Participate in meeting and brainstorming with the marketing team to develop in-demand company products/services
-The intern will assist with applying marketing campaigns and observe how the campaign promotes THE COMPANY products
-Be familiarized with the client demographics and how to incorporate the information in developing a marketing strategy.

Specific Goals and Objectives for this Program or for this Phase:
For intern to gain a thorough understanding of THE COMPANY's products and market strategies through the Business to Business department. To gain marketing skills and product knowledge.

Knowledge, Skills, or Techniques to be Imparted During this Program or During this Phase:
The intern will understand the relationship that THE COMPANY has with their members
The intern will learn how to apply different marketing strategies to various markets
The intern will learn all technical aspects of THE COMPANY products
The intern will learn the Company's marketing and sales initiatives, strategies and procedures.

Methods of Performance Evaluation and Methods or Supervision for this Program or for this Phase:
Supervisor will be present at all times during his phase to monitor the intern's progress.  At the end of the phase, the supervisor will review the intern's understanding and skill level to ensure they are prepared for the next phase.

 


COMMUNICATIONS TRAINING PHASE

Brief Description:
To train the intern in effective communication strategies and methods to be used in communicating with company employees and customers.
Specific Tasks and Activities to be Completed for this Program or for this Phase:
-The intern will organize and maintain paper and electronic files
-Conduct research and disseminate information by using the telephone, mail services, websites and email
-Perform and coordinate the office's administrative activities and storing, retrieving and integrating information for dissemination to staff and clients.

Specific Goals and Objectives for this Program or for this Phase:
The intern will learn the value of and necessity for clear and effective communication within the company and with THE COMPANY members and with the public.

Knowledge, Skills, or Techniques to be Imparted During this Program or During this Phase:
-The intern will learn the flow of communication within the company and with clients
-The intern will learn all aspects of internal and external communication
-The intern will learn how to write memos, how to create brochures and how to organize meetings.

Methods of Performance Evaluation and Methods or Supervision for this Program or for this Phase:
Supervisor will be present at all times during his phase to monitor the intern's progress.  At the end of the phase, the supervisor will review the intern's understanding and skill level to ensure they are prepared for the next phase.

 


MANAGEMENT TRAINING PHASE

Brief Description:
Introduction to THE COMPANY's products and marketing strategies
Specific Tasks and Activities to be Completed for this Program or for this Phase:
-The intern will give professional descriptions of our products to the members; they will assist with doing internal inquiries on each product

COMMUNICATIONS TRAINING PHASE

Brief Description:
The objective of this phase is to bring together the skills acquired by the intern throughout the training program with an overview and introduction to management methods
Specific Tasks and Activities to be Completed for this Program or for this Phase:
-Shadow and observe the manager to learn his responsibilities and duties
-Assist with managerial activities: leading meetings, communicating with staff and delegating assignments.
-Personnel management: scheduling employees to  maximize efficiency and reduce labor costs.  Evaluating and monitoring employees
-Review the company's budget and finances on a weekly basis
-Develop strategies for expanding the company's services, optimizing efficiency and maximizing profits.

Specific Goals and Objectives for this Program or for this Phase:
For intern to learn a wide variety of management responsibilities and required skills through active participation and exposure to real-life management activities and situations.
Knowledge, Skills, or Techniques to be Imparted During this Program or During this Phase:
Learn management philosophy and strategy
Training in budgeting, cost analysis and profit maximization
Personnel management training:  scheduling, hiring and evaluating
Department coordination procedures: communication, integration

Methods of Performance Evaluation and Methods or Supervision for this Program or for this Phase:
The supervisor will be present at all times mentoring and/or monitoring interns performance and progress.  At the end of this phase the supervisor will review the intern's understanding and skill level.

 


BUSINESS TO BUSINESS TRAINING PHASE

Brief Description:
To train the intern in effective communication strategies and methods to be used in communicating with company employee employees and customers

Specific Tasks and Activities to be Completed for this Program or for this Phase:
- The Intern will organize and maintain paper and electronic files
- Conduct research and disseminate information by using the telephone, mail services, websites and email
- Perform and coordinate the office's administrative activities and storing, retrieving and integrating information for dissemination to staff and clients
Specific Goals and Objectives for this Program or for this Phase:
The intern will learn the value of necessity for clear and effective communication within the company, with THE COMPANY members, and with the public.

.NET FRAMEWORK DEVELOPMENT

Brief Description:
This phase will develop the Intern’s understanding of how the company’s website is structured and how it is integrated with the other systems within the company.  The Intern will also develop web and IT maintenance understanding.

Specific Tasks and Activities to be Completed for this Program or for this Phase:
- The Intern will develop support and maintain software applications
- The Intern will provide insightful and constructive input to overall technical architecture and direction
- The Intern will help stakeholders to understand software requirements, and ensure applications are developed to meet the needs of the user
- The Intern will plan, coordinate, and execute software unit testing
Specific Goals and Objectives for this Program or for this Phase:
- Understand the company’s IT infrastructure
- Understand the process of entering new products and updating the website.

Knowledge, Skills, or Techniques to be Imparted During this Program or During this Phase:
Intern will gain experience in / with
- .NET development in version 2.0 or greater
- C#, ASP.NET, ADO.NET, and Visual Studio (2005 or later)
-front-end/UI design, solid skill in HTML, XML, Javascript, AJAX, CSS

Methods of Performance Evaluation and Methods or Supervision for this Program or for this Phase:
The Intern will be supervised during this phase.  The supervisor will set objectives with the Intern and provide regular evaluations to determine the level of understanding obtained by the Intern.

 


SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION PHASE

Brief Description:
This phase will develop the Intern’s understanding of how the company’s system administration is structured and how it is integrated with the company. The Intern will also develop system maintenance understanding.
Specific Tasks and Activities to be Completed for this Program or for this Phase:
- Intern will provide development/support for multi-language implementation of web services/sites.
- Intern will assist in developing/managing project for product sourcing application
- Intern will assist with development of PHP/API’s for e-commerce platform

Specific Goals and Objectives for this Program or for this Phase:
Implementing and maintain cross platform and specific application development using C#, MySQL, MS SQL, PHP, API’s Magento

Knowledge, Skills, or Techniques to be Imparted During this Program or During this Phase:
Intern will gain experience in / with
- Understanding complex database architecture
- Understanding application development for cross platform deployment through API’s

Methods of Performance Evaluation and Methods or Supervision for this Program or for this Phase:
The Intern will be supervised during this phase.  The supervisor will set objectives with the Intern and provide regular evaluations to determine the level of understanding obtained by the Intern.

 


WEB PROGRAMMING PHASE

Brief Description:
This phase will develop the Intern’s understanding of how to create new web tools and applications. The Intern will also develop an understanding of how to perform complete testing of Web applications’ unit and system.

Specific Tasks and Activities to be Completed for this Program or for this Phase:
- Maintain existing Web sites and collaborate with development team on best hosting practices.
- Develop new Web tools and applications as identified by supervisor and management through packaged and customized applications.
- Maintain company-wide Intranet, Continuing Education site, Portal side of ERP and Blogs allowing data manipulation for management.
- Maintain and enhance existing Web applications and all internal systems that are integrated.
-Perform complete testing job applications’ unit and system, engaging users as necessary

Specific Goals and Objectives for this Program or for this Phase:
- Know how to perform complete testing of Web applications’ unit and system, engaging users as necessary.
-Know how to maintain and enhance existing Web applications and all internal systems are integrated.
Knowledge, Skills, or Techniques to be Imparted During this Program or During this Phase:
- Develop skills in ColdFusion, ASP, .NET, SharePoint and PowerShell.
-Develop skills in SQL.
-Develop skills in Flash and video/animation experience, Object Oriented Development, Microsoft SQL Server 2005, Microsoft IIS 6-7.

The Intern will be supervised during this phase.  The supervisor will set objectives with the Intern and provide regular evaluations to determine the level of understanding obtained by the Intern.

Eligibility

  • Minimum of 2 years Undergraduate Study Completed
  • Currently enrolled as a under graduate or graduate student
  • Recent graduate are eligible if they start their internship within 12 months of their official graduation date 
  • Relevant academic background and/or work experience in desired field
